Stamping Down The Bulges In The Carpet… August 29, 2008

The Guardian tells us of more insinuated threats against our security. Not from Saudi Arabia, though, but our friends across the pond.

Stephen Mathias, a legal adviser for the US state Department, has whispered in Milliband’s ear that the release of information regarding the detention and interrogation of Binyam Mohamed, a British resident detained at Guantanamo Bay, would lead to “serious and lasting damage to the US-UK intelligence-sharing relationship and thus the national security of the UK“.

Additionally influenced by the Court’s decision to criticise the MI5’s role in the detention of Mohamed, Tim Eicke, acting for the government, claimed that the USA acted in “good faith“. They really do have a thick skin, don’t they.

The word, again, is ‘craven’.

A tip of the hat to Crooks and Liars
