The New Facelifts Of Neoconservatism… September 13, 2008

Yesterday, I speculated that with “symbolic value, emotionalistic rhetoric and good ol’ gut-level nationalism“, John McCain and Sarah Palin would be perfectly suited to promote the ideas and ambitions of the advisers, largely neoconservatives such as Bill Kristol, Robert Kagan and Randy Scheunemann.

Kristol – a polished turd and co-founder of PNAC, who declared earlier this year that “I’m ambivalent on torture” – has said Palin she is “a spectre of a young, attractive, unapologetic conservatism“. Not particularly talented, to him, but an appealing figure with fiery rhetoric. Robert Kagan, co-founder in crime, has also defended her ignorance against “an elite foreign policy view“.

Today, the Telegraph’s Tim Shipman acknowledges the influence upon her, reporting that “sources in the McCain camp, the Republican Party and Washington think tanks say Mrs Palin was identified as a potential future leader of the neoconservative cause in June 2007“. One official at the American Enterprise Institute has stated that “she’s bright and she’s a blank page“.

Gr8…
Incidentally, how’d ya like to see some lies? Here’s McCain on Pork Barrels and trying to make himself seem popular, Palin on her own puritanism and giving power to pals and aides on a trip to ‘Iraq’. Sure, it’s cheap, but it is the weekend.
