On An Inspiring Speech September 23, 2008

Last night I went to the annual dinner of Torver FC, and watched a speech by Phil Gobbs, the manager and chairman.
All in all, he was rather inspiring: declaring that “we need to win” and cannily recognising that “to win, we need to score goals”. He would have been forgiven for adding that we also need to stop the other sides scoring, but that might have negative connotations.
He finished by reminding us that Torver is “the best team in the world”, which draw cheers from the club’s supporters. Still, at 20th Place in the Cumbrian amateur football league, it seemed a little…abstract?
Septicisle, Justin and James were watching some other bugger.
I approve of this post. Very much.
Cheers, mayunn.
Srsly, I can’t stand speeches. Platitudes are only fit for causing consternation rather than optimism, because one suspects a motivation behind a bland facade.
