Back Towards The Locus

I was going to do some more shorters but this article, by Alan Dershowitz, deserves more than a passing vomit (and the whole thing seemed a leeeeettle too smug)…

“The strategy is as simple as it is cynical: provoke Israel by playing Russian roulette with its children, firing rockets at kindergartens, playgrounds and hospitals; hide behind its own civilians when firing at Israeli civilians; refuse to build bunkers for its own civilians; have the TV cameras ready to transmit every image of dead Palestinians, especially children; exaggerate the number of civilians killed by including as “children” Hamas fighters who are under 18, and as “women”, female terrorists.

Hamas itself has a name for this. They call it “the CNN strategy” (this is not to criticize CNN or any other objective news source for doing its job; it is to criticise Hamas for exploiting the freedom of press, which it forbids in Gaza).”

Do they really call it that, Alan? Because every link that notes “the CNN strategy” seems to be just referencing your article.

And I don’t want to appear snide (hah, there’s a lie for you, me and my snideness are like a pig and its shit) but it seems odd that the sudden appearance of this “CNN strategy”, which insinuates that the channel represents Hamas’s “useful idiot”, coincides with a CNN piece that persuasively argues that it was Israel that broke the ceasefire.

This, it would appear, is the “Dershowitz strategy” (this is not to criticise Alan Dershowitz or any other opinion commentator for doing their jobs; it’s just to insinuate that they’re manipulative and calumnious in a passive-aggressive style).
